Nigerian governors now boycott phone conversations with colleagues and other individuals after the leaked audio conversation between Governor Nyesom Wike and Ayodele Fayose.

It was gathered that state governors now make use of internet applications like Fabebook, Whatsapp and Blackberry messenger calls for sensitive discussions.
This probably because some of these applications have end to end encryption that gives users some level of privacy.
Also, some other state officials are said to have acquired high-tech gadgets that notify them once their calls are being monitored.
One of the governors who spoke on the matter said audio leaks of Wike and Fayose’s conversations have forced them to take such measures.
The governor, who is from South-South said nobody wants be a victim to such embarrassment.

"We have equipment that can detect when our calls are bugged or being recorded. We have decided to use them now,” the governor said.
Also, an aide to another governor said his principal does not discus sensitive matters on phone anymore.
He said the governor does not use internet enabled or smart phones for sensitive issues.
The aide added that when his principal wants to discuss such issues, he sometime invites the individual to his house.
“My governor does not use Internet-enabled phone. He uses one of those old phones that leave no room for bugging.”
The aide added that the governor’s office is protected with modern intelligence gadgets, stating that a bugging device would be easily detected.
Another governor from the North-Central zone: “Nobody can record my telephone conversations because I don’t use mobile phones to make sensitive calls.”
“The plain truth is that we are aware that buggers are on the prowl. All sensitive matters can’t be discussed on the phone anyhow again,” the governor added.
Last week, the media went agog with and audio conversation between the Ekiti state governor and his Rivers state counterpart over the Rivers rerun election.
In the audio leak, Fayode was allegedly heard, hailing Wike for his boldness and confrontations with security operatives.
